  • Self-portrait by Jacinta Tomyn - What Remains

    What Remains

Through the use of an adapted pinhole technique, abstraction and ambiguity are emphasised to capture an elusive 'otherness', where light and movement convey an existence beyond the physical form alone.

The deliberate limitation of exposure and definition intends to both free and challenge expectation, inviting viewers to contemplate the ethereal and mysterious aspects of our reality, as well as the significance of ambiguity in our individuality.

  • Minimalist self-portrait by Jacinta Tomyn - Claiming Space

    Claiming Space

Embracing and celebrating feminine sensuality while challenging the narratives of shame and constraint that have marked my experience into womanhood – an experience that may resonate with many others.

An intended juxtaposition of bold, self-assured poses against a backdrop of soft, delicate tones aim to create balance of strength and subtlety. A quiet confidence while preserving a subtle allure, encouraging viewer’s interpretation and reflections.

  • Self-portrait by Jacinta Tomyn - Where Shadows Fade

    Where Shadows Fade

Exploring the complex nature of desire through an interpretive artistic process – by assuming the role of voyeur, separating myself into viewer and subject to observe the beauty of eroticism from a detached yet intimate perspective. Using an adapted pinhole technique, I intentionally obscure and limit the scope of the images, capturing a series of rolling moments that allow me the freedom to move in natural flow. This process encourages me to view the resulting images as an artist looking beyond the surface and embracing authentic expression, without judgement or limitation.

  • Self-portrait by Jacinta Tomyn - Denied Exposure

    Denied Exposure

An expansion of the focused series ‘What Remains’ into a wider visual and psychological realm. Deliberate limitations function metaphorically and materially through obscured portraits, fragmented bodies, blurred gestures, or stark contrasts of concealment and revelation.

  • Self-portrait by Jacinta Tomyn - Contours Series

    Defined

Abstractions of the human form reduced to its most essential lines, curves, and stark contrast.

  • Self-portrait by Jacinta Tomyn - Shadows Series

    Shadows

A continuing series, many of which have received recognition in international photography awards.

  • Self-portrait by Jacinta Tomyn - Intimate Landscapes

    Intimate Landscapes

This set of self-portraits invoke personal curiosity and physical expression to depict an intimate landscape of the human form.

Each piece is a capture of natural light cascading across the body, contemplated as any other hillside, valley or diverse terrain.

Every detail of light, line, hollow and motion is a reflection of all that abounds in nature.

  • In Colour

Blurring the line between photography and fine art through expressive use lines, texture and colour.
